Our Mission
IHBMR is not a religious organization and has no religious affiliation. The cultural heritage of the diverse groups, movements, faiths, and denominations that transmitted, studied, and interpreted the Hebrew Bible over the millennia is acknowledged as worthy of respect and study.
Institute Goals
- 1Create a centralized catalogue of all Hebrew Bible manuscripts.
- 2Photograph, document, describe, date, and investigate all Hebrew Bible manuscripts.
- 3Create a centralized database of all interpretations of the Hebrew Bible in historic and modern sources, reflecting both traditional and critical approaches to the text.
- 4Cultivate and support scholarship that aims at these objectives.
- 5Publish the results of these investigations in peer-reviewed academic publications.
- 6Educate the public about the results of these investigations.
- 7Make resources available that facilitate the appreciation and study of Hebrew Bible manuscripts by both scholars and the public.
